Happy October
This edge of winter
Echos within the brisk wind
The promise of snow
In the meantime, there was a couple of rainbows in the canyon: enjoy.

Quitting....
Smoking that is. Day 5 and I have gone cold turkey (gobble gobble) - I have earned superhuman abilities - I make Spider Man look like a wuss in climbing walls. HAHA. Actually I'm okay; it sneaks upon me when I least expect it and it takes my breath away. Literally. Almost like heartbreak. "It" being a craving, fix, need, wish or whatever label fits at the moment.

Dedication
In loving memory; Mada Lynn Caudle 4/16/88-8/23/03
On gossamer wings
My heart breaks a thousand times
As she flies away.
Some days, it feels like yesterday....
Lightening
These were taken last night at Mohave Point. In the last picture there is a red light on the lower right side, that is currently the fire burning at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. **Two weeks ago someone was hit by lightening at the spot we were at and killed**** If you or someone you know is going to go out in harsh weather; be PREPARED and DO NOT take unncessary risks. We were at a "safe" distance as this cell was over the North Rim of the Grand Canyon; we also stayed aware of how the winds were moving and constantly vigilant of the environment around us.
Hoooot Ausgust Nights and ......
Oh that's right it's only JUNE! Though the Neil Diamond song keeps going through my mind as it certainly feels like August, in the 90's. Whew! Whether it's a dry heat or a moist heat - its HOT!
Enjoy your summer

Getting reaquainted
Today I hiked. Not much, but a journey begins with a single step; that is what the old ones say. So I started walking down the Bright Angel Trail. Didn't go very far but it was enough to realize I will start out much earlier next time, and perhaps get a little farther.

Dream Scapes
Once arriving at the rim, one could smell the pine in the air. As the clouds shifted through out the canyon I caught the dream sequences:

Then my battery went dead.

State
There are moments when one hears worlds within words: "I hate this state", meaning literally one hates the state in which one resides. However a shiver goes through me as I view the world in the minds eye of the state of conciousness, state of how one is living and the state of ones environment.
I certainly look forward to the change in my literal environment; selfish? Maybe so, it is a part of me I don't relish however selfishness seems to be the survivalist within.

Another year begins
Today I went to Sawgrass park; and was treated with a bounty of beautiful birds of which posed magnificently.
My dear friends at the canyon suffered 16 degree temps last night, and here I am enjoying 78 degree days. I am grateful for that.
A new year begins again; asked what is my resolution, my answer is only one sentence:
To have a better year.
So I think and wonder as I will have the apartment through June; and will be having most of my items - at least the ones I left when I went to the canyon. I contemplate and wonder about the necessaties of these items to me. Wouldn't it be just wiser to sell it all and stay mobile? After all the journey's are not complete.

Happy December
Here it is almost the middle of the month. Susan's got a new job working at Progress Energy - whoo hooo. Jackie isn't working so I'm going over there...
at least its across the parking lot and not very far from work.
So in the interum of moving, again; I'll continue to take pictures, play bejeweled (terribly addicted), read a lot, work at the Hilton, and let my hair grow out.
Happy Christmas ya'll

Headlines
In the paper this morning I saw a quote from a lawyer talking about what a few banks are doing: putting on hold foreclosures. He stated (and I'm not going to quote because I already threw out the paper), about how this will greatly affect the mortgage forclosure industry. Well personally I think that is one industry that really needs to go bye-bye. Wishful thinking I know but it has gotten waaayyyy too big for it's britches, as in the case of several people who had paid up front for their house and the bank foreclosing on the home - that is out of hand.
On another front a survey says people will back a tax for the light rail between St. Petersburg and Tampa, my question is: What happened to the stimulus money that was to be used for that? If it's already been used that would be nice to know, but where has all the costs come from for the surveys, meetings, and other expenditures to determine if the light rail is even a viable necessity for this area?
Then there is the question of what ever happened to paper drives? I remember as a child our schools doing paper drives for the newspaper, but then at that time there was the St. Petersburg Times and the Evening Independent.
To quote one of my favorite articles in the paper; "that's all I have to say" for now

It's not the canyon
It may not be the Grand Canyon, but I drove through the concrete jungle to Sawgrass State Park to commune with nature. A beautiful 400 acre park off of 62nd ave in St. Petersburg, Florida; a place to escape the heat of the concrete jungle and enjoy the dappled sunlight in a lot of welcoming shade.
I didn't wander far and plan on going back for more exploration but here are a few things I saw:

This one took me by surprise, I never knew dragonflies fished.
Just when I thought there wasn't a large choice within my eyesight beyond ferns, mud and scrub oak, I came across this hammock between trees.
Don't you just loved dappled sunlight?

Ohio...
As my ex used to say; another useless nut. Referring to the buckeye, that is what I am becoming.
First word that comes to mind: GREEN! Next words: poison ivy, ahhh. Had to go to the hospital as it became horribly infected. So I am healing. When I look out back, there is no light polution, new word: pastural.
I saw my first lightening bug last night. A single irrididecent floating. It brought a smile to my face.
